The Haunted Hotel 2020 Review (Oct.10th)

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

Location: 3000 South 4th Street, Louisville, KY 40208

Overall Score: 9/10

  • Cast/Actors: 9

  • Do not be fooled, even during a pandemic and new COVID protocols in place it did not stop the inhabitants of The Haunted Hotel from making sure you enjoyed your Stay! The Cast was on top of their game during our visit! With all the current social distancing/COVID guidelines in place, the Cast still gave their all and did an amazing job at scaring/entertaining us! The creep factor seemed to be turned up a notch as well this Season, as we made our way through the Hotel. If we were not scared walking thorough a scene the inhabitants made sure we were at least entertained. The energy of the Cast was alive and well at the Haunted Hotel level you would expect, just with no touching, etc.

  • Customer Service: 10

  • Customer Service is always on point and AMAZING during our visits! We are always Welcomed as we approach the ticket window and are always Thanked as we are leaving the Haunt. The Staff at The Haunted Hotel are always available and willing to help you out in time of need.

  • Scare Rating: 9

  • The scares during our visit were very good! Most of the Cast held their act that many expect from The Haunted Hotel, and I loved that!! There were many different scares as well this Season. We did encounter a lot of startle scares, whether that be from an animatronic, an air blaster in total darkness, or even a creepy death stare that we encountered during our visit. COVID protocols did not keep the Scares away at The Haunted Hotel for sure!!! Kudos to Brennen Cabrera (The Elevator Operator) for another awesome job at keeping that creep factor at 100%, even during this pandemic!

  • Atmosphere: 10

  • The atmosphere of the Haunt is by far one of my favorites that I have encountered. The Hotel has such amazing detail that it just puts you into the set and makes you feel as if you are really about to check into an abandoned Haunted Hotel inhabited by deranged killers! Every year the details of the sets are amazing! The age of the building helps give the Haunted Hotel the creep factor and just pulls you into the storyline better. The staircase to travel to the second floor speaks for its self. :)

  • Special Effects: 8.5

  • During our Journey this Season we did encounter some special effects, but they seemed to be the typical Haunt effects we have encountered before. Don't get me wrong the effects did help set the mood for a few scenes that we visited! Special effects that we encountered included, lighting effects, fog effects, noise effects, moving floors, and very awesome music effects. I don't want to spoil too much, as you must experience these effects in person yourself!

  • Value: 10

  • The value is always worth it every year we visit. The waits can get a bit long at times throughout the Season, but this is typical for a Haunt of this popularity in the Louisville area. We were able to walk at a steady pace through the Haunt, and were not rushed. Well worth the wait and travel for sure!

  • New Scenes: 9.5

  • This year we did encounter a few new scenes throughout the Hotel on the inside and a few new scenery items and different pathways in the outside area. We really did enjoy the new scene very much as it fits very well within the Haunted Hotel storyline! I don't want to give too much away, again please stop by and experience the new scenes in person! They will not let you down, just keep your distance and oh yeah I hope you don't have Arachnophobia!

  • Time Inside Haunt: 10

  • Our Journey through the Hotel took us about 25 - 30 mins. This gave our group plenty of time to venture through the Hotel, get a good scare and enjoy the scenery around us without running into other groups inside the Haunt.

  • COVID-19 Safety Protocols: 8

  • Once you arrive on the Hotels property a face mask must be worn at all times. Signs are posted at the ticket window explaining the new COVID-19 protocols that the Haunt are taking. Our temperature were not taken, but guests must not have a temperature over 100.4°F. Guests feeling sick should stay home. Hand sanitizer stations were in different locations on the property for use as you needed. One issue we seen as we waited to enter the Haunt were the Guests in the que lines not practicing social distancing. This is something that has been a tough issue to tackle and manage at all Haunts, so just keep this in mind while waiting in line, please keep your distance. All Staff and Actors were wearing masks the entire time we visited the Hotel, and most did keep a safe 6 foot distance between them and our group. The details we listed above did not keep us from enjoying our visit through the Haunt and we understand that the new COVID protocols are very new to everyone, and it is a learning experience, so please don't let it keep you from visiting The Haunted Hotel this Season!
