Nightmare Forest Haunt Park 2020 Review (Sep.25th)

Location: 850 Otter Creek Park Road Brandenburg, KY 40108

Overall Score: 8.6/10

  • Cast/Actors: 8

  • During our visit through the Haunt we did encounter a lot of Actors! Some that did an excellent job at giving us a good scare and some that were just a little bit quiet. With this being opening night for the Haunt some Monsters were just getting warmed up for the Season, and we were perfectly fine with that. Props goes out to all the Actors that did manage to give one of our Reviewers in our group lots of jump scares! The Actor that seemed a little shy or quiet, will most likely warm up as the Season goes on and will totally rock their scenes I am sure of that!!

  • Customer Service: 9.5

  • Customer Service was very good during our visit. We were greeted with a friendly Hello, and a Thanks for Stopping By at the Ticket Booth and our questions that we did have were answered as well. Kudos to all the Staff that we did encounter during our visit!

  • Scare Rating: 8

  • During our visit we did encounter a few good scares and we also encountered a few scares that only got one of the members in our group. The Actors did a good job at jump scaring us as we ventured through their sets. This included many scares that immersed us into their set, and then all of a sudden BAM the Actor would come out of no where and scare us. This was the most effective scare that we encountered during our journey. Some scenes that we did encounter just had the Actor standing in their set telling us to leave or said nothing at all...

  • Atmosphere: 9.5

  • The atmosphere of each set design that we encountered was AMAZING!!! I was blown away at how the Haunt had changed since I was younger to present day. The sets we so detailed it was almost like we were on set for a Horror Movie at times. Some scenes that we did encounter could have used a little bit more light, but that low lighting did help with the Actors scares and helped set the tone for that scene. But all in all AMAZING job on the Set Design for sure Build Crew!!!

  • Special Effects: 8.5

  • Special effects were present during our visit, but not all were being utilized. We did encounter many different trick of the eye special effects, lighting effects, and even SNOW, but there were a few scenes that we encountered that didn't have a certain fog effect working and it kind of killed the mood in that scene for us.

  • Value: 8.5

  • The value was worth it. The wait was not very long at all once they started to let the visitors into the Haunt. We did enjoy our Journey through the Haunt and was very well entertained.. We also enjoyed the que line entertainment, but wish that the entertainment stayed out on the stage longer during their acts. When the entertainers were not on stage we enjoyed listing to the music and the light show that reflected off the stage backdrop.

  • New Scenes: N/A

  • This was our first visit to Nightmare Forest Haunt Park in a few years, so we are unsure at this time what new scenes were added vs last Season, but we were told that there has been new changes added.

  • Time Inside Haunt: 8

  • Our Journey inside the Haunt was decent time wise. During your Journey you will encounter 3 different "Haunts" or sections of the Haunt. It took our group about 40 minutes to Journey through all parts of the Haunt. We were not rushed through or pushed through any of the scenes that we encountered during our Journey. The Monsters do allow you to take your time and not be rushed through their scene, however do keep in mind that there is another group not too far behind you so you may be greeted with them if you take too long inside a certain scene.

  • COVID-19 Safety Protocols: 9

  • COVID-19 protocols were in effect at Haunt! As we purchased our tickets we were told part of the new COVID-19 protocols about the masks, etc. Masks are required to enter the Haunt, and all guests and actors must keep them on at all times. While standing in line masks must be worn, but some guests were not following these protocols. Some guests were following the 6 foot distance guidelines while in line, and some groups were not. Hand sanitizer was available for anyone who may need it as you come out of the port-o-pots, and as you ventured through the gift shop/exit of the Haunt. All Actors inside the Haunt were wearing masks and most kept a 6 foot distance between us and themselves.
