Hill of Terror 2021 Review (Sept. 24th)

Location: 3666 Priceville Road, Bonnieville, KY 42713

Overall Score: 9/10

  • Cast/Actors: 8.5

  • Our Journey began at Hill of Terror this Season with being Welcomed onto the "Zombie Bus" by the crazy clowns that we all love! Once we were dropped off at the top of the hill we were then greeted by a few roaming characters that we have never encountered in the past. Once released into the Haunt we came across a wide variety of Characters. Some quiet yet oddly creepy wearing Purge style masks and some that were wondering why we were trespassing on their land. Kudos goes out to the Creatures who were lurking in the Corn Fields hidden to the eye until they emerged and gave us quiet the jump scare! We didn't come across as many Characters as years past, but you could hardly tell!

  • Customer Service: 9.5

  • Customer Service during our visit was very good. Approaching the ticket window we were greeted with a Welcome greeting, and asked about our drive to the Haunt. After purchasing our tickets we were sent on our way to wait for the Zombie Bus, with a "Thanks for Visiting" and "Enjoy the Haunt"! Everyone we encountered at the top of the hill as we waited our turn to enter the Haunt was very polite and welcoming as well! Once it was our turn to enter the Haunt we were given a "Good Luck and Have Fun" by the Staff and sent into the Haunt through the Casket style Entrance door.

  • Scare Rating: 8

  • The scares did not vanish this Season, even with the light crew we encountered. The Actors did a great job this Season blending in with their surroundings until the right moment and then they got us! We encountered all types of scares as well this season, a few being jump scares, actor scares, and even special effect scares!

  • Atmosphere: 9

  • The atmosphere this Season was great as always! We felt right at home with the Monsters and their surroundings. Each scene that we encountered was highly detailed. Walking through the corn field sections this Season was very creepy, as it was very quiet so you never knew what to expect or what you may encounter. Parts of the Woods we encountered really gave us an extra dose of creep factor this Season as well, as there were moments of almost total darkness.

  • Special Effects: 9

  • We encountered many special effects, from horns, explosive noises, pops, air cannons, video projections, laser lights, fog effects, water effects, and even Flames! Yes the Flames returned...in a corn maze!

  • Value: 10

  • The value is always worth it! This year we got our moneys worth for sure!!! The wait is well worth it in the end! We walked away again this year very satisfied and can't wait to return!

  • New Scenes: 7

  • One major new change this Season was the queue line no longer being at the top of the hill. Once dropped off at the top of the hill you enter a whole new experience! No queue lines to wait in, and an amazing New "Festival" style area with a DJ, dance area, photo booth, food vendors and more! When you arrive to the ticket booth at the bottom of the hill you are given a small ticket with a number on it. You then take that ticket to the top of the hill with you and once in the new "Festival" style open area you see a ticket calling booth where the DJ calls out the numbers that are on the small tickets given to you. Once your number is called you then proceed to the entrance of the Haunt to enter with your group. This was such an awesome new addition! Groups were able to spread apart and not be so close to others, and practice safe social distancing. We didn't notice many new scenes once exploring the Haunt.

  • Time Inside Haunt: 10

  • Like last Season we were inside the Haunt about and hour or so. Hill of Terror hands down does such an amazing job at spreading the Haunt out over their 100 acres to make sure you are always entertained during your visit. The Actors allow the Customers to venture at your own pace, so that you can enjoy all that you may encounter during your visit, to insure you don't miss anything!
