Face Your Fears Hotel of Terror 2022 Review (Sept. 17th)

Location: 1291 Cold Spring Rd., Springfield, Ohio 45502

Overall Score: 10/10

Our Season of Haunt Reviews began this year with a highly recommended Haunt, and Man did they put on one heck of a show!!! This being our first time visiting we did not know what to expect, other than hearing we would surely be in for a Treat! Pulling in the driveway to the Haunt we were greeted by the Youth Baseball Team that helped with getting us parked before heading to the Ticket Booth. (Free Parking, donations accepted) Once parked we then could see the Haunt, as well as the plaza area outside the Haunt.

One awesome perk we loved was the Virtual Que experience. Once you purchase your tickets you are added into the virtual que, where you provide your cell phone number where you will be alerted via text when it is your turn to sign in and enter the que lines for the Haunt. This is an awesome perk, because it allows you to wonder the grounds and check out all the awesome photo ops, gift shop area, food vendors, bonfire area and more. (See our photos below to see what all we discovered).

Ticket prices to enter the Haunt are very reasonable. The standard ticket is $20.00 Per Person, Fast Pass is $30.00 Per Person, VIP (which includes touch passes) are $40.00 Per Person, and you can also add on a Touch Pass for $2.00 Per Person. Adding on a Touch Pass will for sure up the adrenaline of your visit! If you think you have what it takes we recommend adding the Touch Pass, you won't be disappointed! We added the touch pass during our visit and had an absolute blast! It really does enhance your experience inside the Haunt. Adding the Touch Pass does allow the actors to touch you, but it does not allow guests permission to touch the actors.

Once we received our text alert to enter the que line, our excitement started to set in! Seeing how amazing the outside of the Haunt is before entering just sent chills down our spines! The outside of the Haunt is just gorgeous! We are excited to see what the future holds for this Haunt, as it was hinted that there is more to come in the Future!! Below we give more details from our visit, as well as our ranking for each aspect of the Haunt:

  • Cast/Actors: 10

  • WOW....What an Amazing Cast of Actors!!! Kudos goes out to ever single Actor we encountered during our visit, as they scared us from every angle! We really enjoyed getting to meet some of the Creepy Characters as we waited outside the Hotel. Shoutout to Pinky (Jon Irvin) for snapping a photo with us, and later freaking us all out inside the Haunt with his demented snorts :) We were also greeted by a few others as well, Jimmy Dawn (Justin Retherford), as well as SKinKrawl. These two were very unique Characters for sure, as they would lurk around the grounds scaring guests, and popping up behind s in photos even! Once inside the Haunt it was Petal to the Metal! We opted in and did the Touch Pass add on, this for sure added another level to our Haunt experience! This turned up the adrenaline of the Actors inside to Overdrive! They gave us one heck of a show for sure, and we loved every bit of it! Having the touch passes we were split up a few different times and escorted through many different scenes by a few of dark Creatures lurking inside the Hotel. At one point I was pulled from our group by Chester (Israel Smith) and faced with one of my biggest Fears, having to walk through a Haunted House all alone! Chester had me stop and interact with a few of the Hotel inhabitants which turned up my fear levels for sure, but deep down I enjoyed every moment of it and was proud to have conquered one of my biggest fears. As mentioned, once inside the Haunt we encountered many different characters on all 4 levels of the Haunt and even outside! Special Shout Outs goes to The VooDoo Queen (Tiffany Smith) for giving our group a special gift that gave our Group a protection spell during the rest of our visit inside the Hotel. The Carver Brothers & Wild Thing (Matthew Carmen & JD Scudder, Garret Sayers) for trying to rip me limb from limb during my solo journey through the Basement. I wasn't sure I was gonna make it out in one piece! We really loved the energy we got from all the Actors, Kudos EVERYONE!!!

  • Customer Service: 10

  • The Customer Service was AMAZING! Once we parked we made our way to the Ticket Booth where we were greeted with warm Welcomes full of hospitality! During our visit we were introduced to a few of the Master Minds behind the Haunt and got the chance to chat with them for a bit and felt as if we had been Haunt Friends for many years. Everyone was so friendly and very down to Earth! Every Staff Member we interacted with as we walked around the Haunt Grounds were so friendly and approachable.

  • Scare Rating: 9

  • Once inside the Haunt the scares were endless! The scares came from every direction. We really loved the unexpected scares we encountered, such as the ones that came from the darkness! This type of scare really added to the creep factor for sure. This had me on edge as I was traveling the Haunt paths alone! Some scares we encountered came in the form of animatronic scares, but gosh did they seem like they were real actors sometimes!

  • Atmosphere: 10

  • The atmosphere at Face Your Fears Hotel of Terror is hands down the Best we have seen thus far!! The Design Crew have done such an amazing job detailing the inside of the Haunt as well as the outside. We fell in love with the details the Hotel gave off on the outside for sure! (See photos below) As you enter the Hotel you are greeted by two creepingly beautiful Gargoyles who look as if they are going to take off in flight with your Soul. The way the rooms were designed had us feeling as if we were on a movie set! One of our favorite scenes was the Catacombs, which had some sick details! All we can say is be ready to Face Your Fears head on around every turn!!!

  • Special Effects: 10

  • During our visit we experienced a lot of special effects, fog, pneumatics, video effects, startle scare effects, lighting effects, and so much more! We really loved how the effects were not too over powering, but they were just a little over the top in certain scenes to push you to "Face Your Fears" limits per say.

  • New Scenes: N/A (This was Our first Visit)

  • Time Inside Haunt: 10

  • Our time inside the Haunt was Perfect in our opinion! The Actors inside the Haunt did not rush us through their scenes, as most interacted with us in some form or fashion, which we loved! During our journey we encountered 4 levels of Fear! Do not let the the exterior fool you into thinking this is a in and out trip.
